The Gardens

Garden

Originally started as a private collection of Heritage Roses, the garden now holds over 1000 varieties both old and new. There is currently much interest in the preservation of historic roses and the collection reflects the dedication of the team at Tasman Bay Roses in this regard. The garden contains many varieties and species not commonly found and these are lovingly cared for so that they may be conserved for the pleasure of future generations.

Road frontages of the farm are being planted with some of the climbers and ramblers which form a large part of the collection.

The peak flowering time at Tasman Bay Roses is from mid November until Christmas - but all through summer there are roses are in flower. The garden is open to visitors without charge.

The main garden is formal in style - planted in a mixture of old fashioned and modern roses - with three smaller gardens linked to it. Doves and native birds have made their homes in the established trees while bantams roam freely. A flock of Suffolk sheep and three ponies graze in fields nearby. The gardens are a peaceful place for a walk and visitors may bring a picnic if they wish.
